What happened to KILLpRObots?

The forum associated with it has disappeared. My friend's space there, together with the domain itself, has expired.

But that did not mean KPB was a failure. It wasn't. KPB helped the pRO GMs in the effort in countering bots, by giving them information, programs, and suggestions.

Stay tuned to this place for the reintroduction of KillpRObots. I'll give you a hint as to what happened to it.

It finally got the official support it needed.

One of the biggest problems about bots is the software security hole that allows it to happen in the 1st place in RO. Then again, there seem to be bots in all or most MMOGs so it's not an RO problem alone. Maybe RO's server thingy just has a bigger hole than most. Or Koreans are a more trusting culture than most. ;-)

Rampant botting was one of the main reason why I stopped playing RO way back then. It wasn't bad because I got to try other MMORPGs... I think that the cure is not with the publisher but more with the developers and one of the biggest debate about botting is that the publisher still earns a lot of dineros from botters... it's like having a goose that lays golden eggs, parting with it would be very difficult (I guess)...

Perhaps they were right about Gravity being really lazy. I wouldn't be surprised either; had they been caring about the game, it wouldn't end up like this.

But from what I hear, there's more to that. The original designer of the game was gone in the middle of the development, and Gravity reportedly has internal issues on their own. (don't quote me on this, I cannot confirm this)

On the financial standpoint, yes, that would be rather hard... but the impact is that the reputation of the game deteriorates. Sure, you get botters sustaining the game, but the real players will go away and play something else.

And these botters will abuse the game, like what they did with duping.
